Biography

Dr Kerri Eagle received her medical degree from the University of Sydney. She also has undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in law and has practised as a solicitor. She is a qualified and experienced forensic psychiatrist. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.  

Dr Eagle has experience providing expert psychiatric reports in a variety of contexts including criminal trials involving mental illness or mental impairment, fitness hearings, and sentencing proceedings. She has worked as a Court appointed psychiatrist in conducting risk assessments in proceedings involving the management of high risk offenders and forensic patients.  Dr Eagle has also participated as an expert witness in Coronial inquests. She has given evidence in a number of Court forums including the Court of Criminal Appeal, Supreme Court, District Court, Local Court, Mental Health Review Tribunal and Coroner's Court.

Dr Eagle has a number of publications in peer reviewed journals. She has an ongoing adjunct appointment with the Faculty of Medicine at University of New South Wales. She also continues to work as a treating clinician for the NSW health service.

Dr Eagle has a special interest in reducing offending, and improving the clinical care and treatment of persons with severe mental disorders.
